Forming part of Kent County Council’s Commercial Services Group, Lumina Energy was established in 2012 to help local businesses save money on their utility bills. We are wholly owned by Kent County Council and benefit from their 25+ years’ experience and expertise in energy procurement, managing a combined energy spend of £450 million each year.
We have since evolved our range of energy services, working with thousands of customers across the UK to minimise energy spend and increase energy efficiency. Our team of Energy Consultants support our customers in a wide range of utility services; from gas, electricity and water procurement, through to a variety of energy management services. We keep track of market and industry changes to help tailor the best possible solutions for our customers’ short and long term needs.

What does this mean?
Lumina is a TPI (Third Party Intermediary). This means we are an organisation aimed at helping you to manage your business energy needs by offering a comparison and switch service.
How can we help?
Looking for business energy is very different to finding an energy supplier for your home. Business prices are not published in the same way and we work with a carefully chosen list of suppliers to find this information for you. We aim to find the best deal for your business and on average we can help you save 23%* on your current supplier’s renewal offer. However, if when we search you are actually on the best tariff for your usage, we won’t recommend you to switch.

What can you do to help me switch supplier? At Lumina we pride ourselves on our customer service, we listen to your needs and try and find the best deal for your business. To see our process on How to Switch click here.
What services will you provide during the life of the contract? You will be assigned a dedicated Account Manager who will be on hand to answer any questions or queries you have during your contract duration. They will also call you prior to your next contract renewal to talk through your options to find you another great deal.
How will I be charged for these services? Will I be charged directly or indirectly? Our service is free to use; impartial and without obligation. However if you do decide to instruct us to arrange a new contract on your behalf, we do receive a fee from your new supplier.
Important things to remember
When deciding to work with a TPI there are important things to be aware of and remember. At Lumina we aim to make the process of switching energy supplier easy and hassle free.
- A supplier is under no obligation to supply to your business. They determine the customers they choose to supply to often by looking into the size of supply or company credit rating. What we can do at Lumina is make sure you fit all the supplier’s conditions before managing your switch.
- Generally there is no cooling-off period after you agree the contract switch with us. This is applicable to agreements made over the phone and in writing.
- In terms of duration, not all energy contracts are the same, while most are for a fixed term it is important that understand how long your contract will last with your new supplier.
- Your energy supply contract will always be with the energy supplier and not with Lumina.
Compliance with the Business Protection from Misleading Marketing Regulations (BPMMRs) Lumina will at all times comply with the requirements of the BPMMRs.
