A sales team can often be misconstrued as being loud, overconfident and pushy. This kind of misconception is often the reason why people avoid applying for sales roles and possibly even why potential customers avoid going ahead with a service or purchase. At Lumina Energy, we want to break this misconception, and show everyone how a sales team can thrive in a friendly, welcoming and professional environment.
In September 2019, we sent an internal staff survey to our sales team on how they felt about working at Lumina and the challenges they face on a day to day basis. This allowed us to further understand what makes our sales team thrive! The majority of answers from the 12 responses related back to the staff comradery, explaining that their friendship and humorous banter was the best thing about their career with Lumina. Energy Consultant, Dan Prior commented; “It’s a great office environment and has strong, healthy competition”.
The challenges they face were all followed up by how rewarding it was to overcome these, making a difference in their customers’ lives by removing the hassle and achieving evidenced energy savings. Energy Sales Team Leader, Matt Greenwood advised that “staying up to date with the latest laws, regulations and changes” was also challenging, but the team are constantly growing as a business by learning more each day. As a sales team, Lumina also strive to deliver targets on a monthly basis which can be demanding, but that doesn’t stop the team; “hitting monthly targets can be tricky, but I enjoy the challenge!” Energy Consultant, Ashley Wicks commented.
Outside of working hours, the team enjoy games, quizzes, and nights out on a Friday, and arrange team outings by raising money from hitting their targets. But of course, it’s not all about team building, it’s the overall service they provide to customers.
