Shortlist announced for the London Sport Workforce Award!
On 14th March 2019, Twickenham will be hosting the London Sport Awards, a ceremony created to showcase and celebrate those who have gone above and beyond to help Londoners become more physically active. We are proud to sponsor the Workforce Award, and the shortlisted nominees were revealed last night on BBC Radio London!
The shortlisted nominees are…
Disability Sports Coach
In 2018, DSC trained and deployed a workforce of 122 coaches and volunteers to support the delivery and growth of disability sport. That workforce delivered over 1,500 hours of inclusive activity across 16 Boroughs, with many coaches and volunteers themselves being disabled.
London Youth developed a programme to create new young female leaders in sport to address challenges around a lack of female role models in sport.
Newham Volunteer Team
Newham Volunteer Team placed 200 volunteers into 36 mass participation sport events in 2018, delivering a total of 2,644 hours of sport volunteering. The project also supported community grassroots clubs, with over 100 volunteers working in the community setting over the past 5 years.
We are so excited to find out which of these deserving organisations will win this years’ award. For more information on the London Sport Awards, please visit https://londonsport.org/event/london-sport-awards-2019/ and for all the latest news, follow the hastag #LondonSportAwards on twitter.
